In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
— John McCrae
We recently purchased this amazing fountain from our favourite store Banyen Books. I first saw this fountain at Glow Wellness Centre where I have been going for acupuncture treatments to deal with my ongoing back/sciatica issues. I immediately was drawn to the peacefulness and beautiful chimes of the fountain. As the water circulates two of the bells float around and hit against the other bells and make a beautiful chimming noise. Very relaxing and calming.
I have started to do a major cleanup of my office. It is long overdue and I have to set up a new system for my files. Of course as with any cleaning that involves going through papers and stuff it always takes longer than usual. I came across a Hallmark birthday card that was sent to me the year my cousin Murray died. His partner, Molly sent it knowing that Murray always contacted me on my birthday. I remember being so touched that she thought to send the card plus the verse in the card was so beautiful and poignant. I'm usually not one for sappy greeting cards but sometimes the writers of these greetings get it right. It is a verse that still speaks to me.
breathe deep
talk slow
walk soft
let go
give big
take less
don't count
just guess
act fair
think long
laugh loud
sing strong
plan bold
dream far...
feel loved.
you are.
Thanks Molly and thanks to whoever wrote this.
