Five days of hospital beds and no internet and three days of no eating make Scott a dull boy
Random ramblings when I have something to talk aboot :)
A tip of the hat to Em for the challenge and to Annie and Nicey for letting me so wantonly steal from them *giggles*
For the longest time, I was hesitant to get excited about the new Michael Bay/Steven Spielberg collaboration, Transformers. Based on the 80s toy line and cartoon, Transformers is about robots who were more than meets the eye.
I saw the first trailer last summer and thought to myself "that's not a Transformers movie! UGH!" I tried keeping an open mind about it, but the more I heard and read, the more the movie filled me with dread. (Rhyming unintentional...honest!)
I was worried that Bay was going to fuck with my childhood so hard I'd need therapy. Bumblebee wasn't a Volkswagen, he's a Camaro. Optimus Prime has flames on his body. Megatron isn't a gun. The entire movie seemed like it was going to be a 140 minute GMC commercial. My god, when would the madness end?
When I saw Fantastic Four 2 (or was it Spider-Man 3?) I saw a new trailer for the movie, and everything I believed about this movie, all the doubts I had, were erased in 150 seconds.
I was pumped. I *HAD* to see this movie as soon as it came out. Today was that day.
I shall maintain my policy of keeping things spoiler-free, and while I may quote a line or two of dialogue, at no point will I a) reveal who the speaker of said line was and b) divulge when in the movie said line was uttered.
When I left the theatre, I raced to my car and wrote down all the things I had a nerdgasm over. The following is that list, in no particular order, and certainly not all chronologically.
1. When Megan Fox appeared on screen for the first time
2. The first time we see one of the robots transform
3. "You want a piece of me?" "No, I want two!"
4. Bumblebee's face
5. "Autobots...roll out!"
6. The first time we see my favourite Decepticon, and overall Transformer, Starscream
7. Barricade vs Bumblebee
8. Megan Fox under the hood of the car (see above)
9. The final 45 minutes
10. How much of a badass they made Starscream...he was, admittedly, a bit of a pussy in the cartoon, but manoman did they make him fierce!
11. The CGI on the robots is amongst the greatest I have EVER seen...holy shit it's magical.
I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff, which is why I soooooooooo need to see this movie again. And soon.
I give Transformers 12 Robots In Disguise out of five. It is THAT fucking good.
I got nothing...
