We have a leak!
Here is just a brief glimpse into my family, friends, and all of the things that interest me!
Well I haven't been able to update this in a while but thought that I would send through a few notes on what's going on. Lance and I were in Kingston this past weekend celebrating St Patty's day and visiting with his sister who flew in from North Carolina. It was fun but I wouldn't recommend showing up at bar at 10:30 in the morning everyday. It makes for a very long day!
The house is going well as well. We haven't done much to it lately although we are planning for the upcoming summer. The front runners for the renovation include the basement and the backyard. We have friends that might be able to help us with the backyard so we'll see how that goes but after tax season things are a little tight so we'll see.
Anyhow that's it for now but I'll be back soon :-)
I haven’t written in a while so I thought I would write a quick blurb. Life has been pretty quiet and trust me you won’t hear any complaints from me. Lance and I have booked a trip to Cuba in February so I’m really looking forward to that although fingers crossed that there is no political unrest from the Castro situation. I’ve booked laser eye treatment in April which I’m nervous and excited about! And lastly the Saints are in the Playoffs and could make it to the Superbowl. So why am I interested in this well I might not be as much as a football fan as my husband but I have to say I have really enjoyed watching them this year considering the fact that they have actually been winning and even I can tell that they’re pretty decent. They play in the final playoff game (is that what you call it?) before the Superbowl this Sunday so Lance is a bundle of nerves but hopefully the team will pull through for him and even if they don’t they’ve done pretty good regardless.
Oh and yes I do have a favorite player I have to say I do love Deuce J
So after months of searching we have finally purchased a coffee table, side table, and some shelving units. I have to say the whole search was a very long and drawn out event. I guess we had a specific type that we wanted (contemporary and all wood) and we just couldn’t find anything that we liked anywhere.
Anyhow at last Upcountry came to the rescue and we found the coffee table and matching end table plus we got a deal on two decorative shelving units for our front hallway. I love all of it although will likely have to wait approximately 8 – 10 weeks for delivery. I guess we may end up having it for the holidays … hopefully.
In other house news we finally finished refinishing our kitchen/family room floors. While they certainly are far from perfect they look an awful lot better then the dirty, varathane-less floors that they were before. Shutters are also being installed this Friday … so exciting because it means we will actually be able to change in the bedroom without giving the whole road a peep-show. Plus I think they will make the outside look a bit more finished as right now there are just big blank looking windows.
On the bad side of things we had a huge rain storm today which resulted in what may be a leak in our roof. I went into the bathroom this morning and the bathroom vent was spewing water … excellent! Lance is going into the attic this evening to have a look but it looks like my “oh so wanted” new front door will have to wait till next year as I suspect we’ll be putting a new roof on (plus the new flashing that we desperately need in front as well.) Also we had a chimney sweep in to clean our chimney and he warned us that while things looked ok if we lit a fire and noticed smoke upstairs it would mean that the mortar in the chimney was worn now and would need additional repair. Guess what we lit a fire and noticed smoke upstairs so now we have to look at relining the fireplace and possible putting in a gas one just because we might as well we’re doing work there – the joys of being a home-owner J
So I started off this summer wanting to do a minimum of two tri's. Now I hadn't anticipated how much work the house would be as well as how busy I'd be at work so the summer quickly dwindled away until there was just one tri of the season in Wasaga.
I wasn't too sure about doing it because I haven't trained that well for it but ended up signing up to do it along with Lance the week of. Feeling pretty nervous and extremely cold Saturday morning we headed out. I have to say I wasn't really looking forward to the swim portion because even though it is probably my best event it was probably about 16 degrees and cloudy with showers (yuck). We arrived at the event though and quickly found out that because of rough water the swim portion was cancelled making my second triathalon ever and last one of the season a duathlon with a 5 km run, 20 km bike and a 2.5 km run to wrap it up. I guess not too bad although when you combine all three plus add that for portions of the run we were running on sand - it wasn't exactly a jog in the park. Either way I managed to complete and while my time was perhaps not as good as I might have liked hey at least I made it out!
The rest of the weekend was fun as well. Sunday I watched the first major football game of the year with Lance and thank g** Lance's team (The Saints) won because normally he's just a big sulk the day of games :-) Love you hon!
